Software developers (engineers):

Employment requirements
To work as a software engineer in Canada, the requirements are the most stringent. This in turn is offset by the highest salary among IT professionals. For this position, you will need a bachelor's degree, usually in computer science, computer systems engineering, software engineering or mathematics, or completion of a college program. Experience as a programmer may be required, as well as a master's or doctoral degree in a related discipline.
In addition, a license from the provincial or territorial professional engineers' association is required to approve engineering drawings and reports and work as a professional engineer. Engineers are eligible for provincial registration after completing an education program, three or four years of supervised engineering experience, and passing a professional practice exam.
To be employed as a programmer or interactive systems developer in Canada, you need a bachelor's degree in computer science or another discipline with a significant programming component or completion of a college computer science program. If you want to program engineering and scientific applications, you may need to obtain special education or experience.
