Immigration to Nova Scotia for construction workers

The Critical Construction Worker Pilot of Nova Scotia's provincial program is designed for skilled construction professionals who have found employment there.

Requirements

To apply for the Critical Construction Worker Pilot stream, you must meet the following requirements:

• be between the ages of 21 and 55;
• receive a job offer in Nova Scotia in an eligible occupation (see below);
• have 1 year of work experience within the last 5 years in the construction field;
• complete a high school education or training in the construction field;
• demonstrate proficiency in English or French:
  • at CLB level 5 (pre-intermediate level) for occupations NOC TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 (managerial, skilled, and trades occupations);
  • at CLB level 4 (basic level) for occupations NOC TEER 4 or 5 (low-skilled occupations);
• have the financial means to settle in Nova Scotia.

• construction managers;
• home building and renovation managers;
• contractors and supervisors, electrical trades and telecommunications occupations;
• contractors and supervisors, other construction trades, installers, repairers and servicers;
• contractors and supervisors, mechanic trades;
• welders and related machine operators;
• electricians;
• industrial electricians;
• carpenters;
• bricklayers;
• heavy-duty equipment mechanics;
• heating, refrigeration and air conditioning mechanics;
• crane operators;
• concrete finishers;
• plasterers, drywall installers and finishers and lathers;
• roofers and shinglers;
• residential and commercial installers and servicers;
• heavy equipment operators;
• material handlers;
• construction trades helpers and labourers;
• other trades helpers and labourers.
