Fanshawe Toronto@ILAC

Who is it suitable for? What are the entry requirements? And what awaits those who graduate?

Recently, Fanshawe Toronto@ILAC College announced that it will be launching 2 new training programs very soon: Chronic Disease Management and Construction Project Management. So we decided to talk about them in detail. You can read about "Chronic Disease Management" in separate article, and in this one we will talk about "Construction Project Management".

Construction project management

Construction Project Management is a postgraduate program that will last 2 years. The studies will include co-op — paid internship. The expected cost of tuition is CAD 27,000 (excluding excluding ancillary fees). Graduates can expect to receive a post-graduation work permit for 2 years.

Graduates of the Construction Project Management program will plan, manage and supervise construction projects in the residential, industrial, commercial and civil infrastructure sectors of the construction industry. They will also build and lead teams to deliver construction projects, ensure that plans are executed, and that health and safety regulations are adhered to. In other words, by earning this qualification, you will become one of the most important people involved in construction.

Prospects

Prospects

The job prospects for such a specialist in Canada are limitless. The construction sector accounts for 7.5% of the country's GDP. Buildforce Canada reports that 257,000 construction sector workers will retire by 2029. And the country will need more than 300,000 construction workers and construction managers to get the planned projects done.

Job Bank expects there will be more than 32,000 vacancies for construction project managers by 2031. Vacancies are growing every year. Naturally, there will be plenty to do in Ontario, as 42 of the 100 largest construction projects currently underway in Canada are located in Ontario.

Entry requirements

Entry requirements

Since this is a postgraduate program, you need to be a higher education institution graduate to enroll in it. Construction Project Management requires applicants to have a degree or a diploma in construction or a related field such as architecture or landscape design.

Applicants also need to prove their English language skills by submitting an IELTS certificate. The required average score is 6.5 and none of the test components (Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing) must be scored below 6.0.

Admission without IELTS

Thanks to a partnership between Fanshawe and ILAC, instead of taking IELTS, you can enroll in ILAC's University Pathway program. This is a specialized language course that prepares you to study in English at a Canadian university or college. The main advantage of the Pathway program is that you do not need to take the IELTS. You will receive a certificate of completion of the University Pathway as proof of your English language skills.

ILAC works with not only Fanshawe College, but dozens of other post-secondary institutions across Canada.
