Quebec continues to hold big draws

The province again sent out more than 1,000 invitations to immigrate.

Quebec shared the results of a drawing that was held on August 10 for skilled workers looking to immigrate to the province.

The region selected 1,384 candidates who met one of the following requirements:

  • have an oral French proficiency of level 7 or above in the provincial grading system (above average) and a minimum score of 591 points in the Arrima system;
  • or have a job offer outside of Montreal and its suburbs.

The previous Quebec selection was held on July 20. There were more invitations and the minimum score was slightly higher.

Quebec is the only province in Canada with its own immigration system. The region sets the criteria for selecting candidates independently of the federal government.

In the Arrima scoring system, points are awarded for language skills (primarily French), work experience, education, age, profession, and availability of a job offer in Quebec.
