Quebec issued more than 1,000 immigration invitations

But passing grades have risen noticeably.

On April 20, the province of Quebec held an immigration drawing for skilled workers and selected 1,020 candidates.

To receive an invitation, applicants had to meet one of the requirements:

  • have a job offer outside of Montreal and its suburbs;
  • or score a minimum of 598 points in the Arrima system.

The previous selection in Quebec was held on March 30. The passing score was 20 points lower, but only candidates with certain professions were invited.

Quebec is the only region in Canada that has its own immigration system. The province itself sets the criteria for selecting applicants independently of the federal government.

Arrima evaluates factors such as language skills (primarily French), age, work experience, education, profession, and availability of job offers in Quebec.
