Passing scores dramatically increased in a new Express Entry draw

Passing scores dramatically increased in a new Express Entry draw

Only certain candidates were invited.

On February 15, Canada held another immigration drawing in the Express Entry system. This time, candidates with provincial nominations were invited.

699 invitations were issued, and participants needed a minimum score of 791 on the Comprehensive Ranking System. The previous drawing for candidates with provincial nominations was held on February 1 with a minimum score of 733, significantly lower than the new round.

Express Entry is the system Canada uses to select candidates for federal immigration programs:

A provincial nomination automatically adds 600 points to candidates. Therefore, in this draw, without a nomination, only 191 points were required for education, work experience, language skills, age, and other factors. The nomination is given to those who applied through one of the provincial immigration programs and received an invitation.

Express Entry is one of the main and fastest ways to immigrate to Canada. If you need help assessing your chances for permanent residency, selecting a program and applying, book a consultation with our specialist.
