New draw for skilled workers in the province of Quebec
Passing scores went up, but there was no restriction on occupations.
Quebec has shared the results of the immigration draw, which took place on December 8. The province sent 517 invitations to skilled workers.
To receive an invitation, applicants had to meet the following criteria:
- score a minimum of 591 points in the Arrima system;
- have a job offer outside of Montreal and its suburbs.
Quebec's previous drawing was on December 1. The passing score was slightly lower, but there was also a list of eligible occupations. This time, candidates were invited regardless of their occupation.
Quebec is the only province in Canada that has its own immigration system and sets its selection criteria independently of the federal government.
The Arrima system evaluates language skills (primarily French), age, work experience, education, occupation, and availability of a job offer in Quebec.
