Selection by three immigration streams in Ontario
Graduate students and qualified professionals were invited.
On March 30, 2022, Ontario held an immigration drawing. They invited 398 graduate students, 155 skilled professionals and 65 specialists in sought-after professions. A total of 618 people received invitations.
The minimum passing score for graduate students was 39. For specialists it was lower: 23 points for invited by the flow of qualified specialists and 21 points for representatives of in-demand professions.
The previous selection by the province of Ontario was just recently — March 24. At that time, candidates from the Express Entry Skilled Trades stream were invited. Since the beginning of 2022, 8,333 people on all streams of the provincial immigration program in Ontario have received invitations. You can find out more on our selection history page.
The skilled stream invited professionals in the following professions:
- technologists and mechanical engineering technicians;
- technologists and technicians of industrial and manufacturing production;
- technical specialists in the maintenance of electronic systems (household and industrial equipment);
- industrial instrumentation technicians and mechanics;
- technologists and technicians of design work;
- technical support specialists;
- information systems testing specialists;
- contractors and supervisors in metalworking and related professions;
- electrical and telecommunications contractors and supervisors;
- pipeline contractors and supervisors;
- contractors and supervisors in the carpentry field;
- contractors and supervisors in other construction work: installation, repair and maintenance;
- makers of tools and dies;
- sheet metal workers;
- structure installers;
- electrics (excluding industrial and power systems);
- industrial electricians;
- plumbers;
- plotters;
- stoners;
- concrete workers;
- roofer and master installers;
- isolators;
- painters and painters (excluding interior decorators);
- contractors and mechanical supervisors;
- contractors and supervisors of heavy special equipment operators;
- supervisors in print and related industries;
- construction installers and industrial mechanics;
- large equipment mechanics;
- heating, air conditioning and refrigeration systems mechanics;
- rail car inspectors;
- aviation mechanics and aircraft inspectors;
- elevator designers and mechanics;
- automotive, truck and bus mechanics, repair mechanics;
- electromechanics;
- motorcycle and all-terrain vehicle mechanics, as well as mechanics of related specializations;
- operators of cranes;
- contractors and supervisors in landscaping, grounds maintenance and horticulture;
- electricians and power system operators.
The stream in-demand professions invited separately industrial workers who have job offers outside the Greater Toronto Area, and separately professionals from other professions.
What kind of staff do Ontario industries need?
The following professions were invited to participate in the March 30 selection process:
- metal and metal processing machine operators;
- machining and forging machines;
- machine operators;
- other machine tool operators;
- chemical production operators;
- plastics machine operators;
- woodworking machine operators;
- operators of industrial sewing machines;
- food and beverage processing operators;
- electronics assemblers, fabricators, inspectors, and testers;
- machine assemblers and inspectors;
- industrial painters, coating machine operators;
- assemblers, finishers, and inspectors of other products.
In addition to employees of industrial enterprises, the stream specialists of in-demand professions invited:
- nurse assistants, orderlies, and patient care assistants;
- care workers and allied professions (except housekeepers);
- installers of equipment and structures in residential and commercial buildings;
- operators of heavy equipment (except construction cranes);
- construction helpers and handymen;
- farm workers;
- the nursery and greenhouse workers;
- workers for the harvest;
- industrial butchers, poultry handlers and related workers.
