Immigration to Prince Edward Island for in-demand workers
Certain mid-level and low-skilled workers can get permanent residency through the PEI Occupations in Demand program.
The Occupations in Demand stream of Prince Edward Island's provincial program allows medium and low-skilled professionals in high-demand occupations who have found work in the province to immigrate.
Requirements
To apply for the Occupations in Demand stream, you must meet the following requirements:
- be between 18 and 59 years old;
- have at least a high school education;
- have a job offer in Prince Edward Island in one of the eligible occupations (listed below);
- have 1 year of work experience related to the job offer;
- demonstrate English or French language proficiency at CLB level 4 (basic level);
- show sufficient funds to cover immigration expenses and settlement in the province;
- demonstrate intention to live in the province.
Eligible Occupations
Only representatives of the following occupations can apply for the Occupations in Demand stream:
- nurse aides, orderlies and patient service associates;
- transport truck drivers;
- construction trades helpers and laborers;
- light duty cleaners;
- laborers in processing, manufacturing and utilities;
- material handlers;
- process control and machine operators, food and beverage processing;
- industrial butchers and meat cutters, poultry preparers and related workers.
Candidate Assessment
Prince Edward Island evaluates immigration candidates through a provincial "Expression of Interest" system, where you can score up to 100 points. Points are awarded as follows:
