Immigration selections

In the two weeks between November 29 and December 12, Canada held several drawings in which more than 3,000 candidates were invited to apply for permanent residency.

BC selected 89 people in the IT workforce program, as well as 318 candidates from the skilled trades, intermediate and low-skilled and graduate streams.

Manitoba conducted a major selection process among provincial and overseas professionals and alumni, inviting 438 applicants.

The province of Ontario sent out 1,186 invitations. Selection took place in several streams at once: for foreign professionals, in-demand professionals, graduates, as well as on a regional immigration pilot.

Express Entry called 1,032 provincial immigration program participants into the drawing. This is the largest selection in this category in Express Entry history.

Jobs in Canada

Immigration to Canada is possible without higher education, a qualified profession and good English. Nova Scotia has recently extended the list of professions with which it is easier to obtain permanent residence in the province. It includes waiters, cleaners, handymen and more.

Another province, New Brunswick, has announced three job fairs to be held online this winter. The region is looking for workers in forestry, food processing and manufacturing. Attendees will be able to learn about immigration opportunities in New Brunswick and interview with local employers.

It's no surprise that Canadian provinces are allowing workers to move in a simplified way. New jobs continue to appear in Canada with no one to fill them. A new report shows there were more than a million job openings across the country in September. The most popular sectors: hospitality, health care and social assistance, retail, construction and manufacturing.

Pandemic

As early as January, Canada will have new border measures in place for foreign nationals. In almost all cases, one of the approved vaccines will be required to enter the country. But there will be some ways to fly in for those whose country doesn't have the approved drugs or who don't want to get vaccinated.

Despite the new restrictions, there is positive news. Because of the pandemic, Canada has extended the breaks for international students who study online. Until next September, they will be able to get a work permit after studying, even if they were educated remotely and were in their home country.
