Quebec's been getting a lot of immigration shenanigans

The province held its second selection in a month.

On August 19, Québec's immigration program sent 502 invitations through the Arrima expression of interest system. The selection process went through for candidates in the skilled workers stream. This is the second large-scale selection in a row.

The selected candidates scored a minimum of 548 points in the Arrima evaluation system. This is 43 points lower than it was in the previous selection, which took place on August 12.

In July this year, Quebec changed the candidate selection process and introduced a point-based evaluation system. Points are awarded for factors such as age, language skills, education, work experience, demand for the profession in Quebec, availability of education and work experience in Quebec, and so on. Previously, participants were not awarded points in the Arrima system.

In addition to points, applicants selected in the past selection process had a provincial job offer outside of Montreal and one of the following occupations:

Quebec's immigration programs are managed by the province on the basis of selection criteria and processes different from those of Canada.
