Ontario invites professionals to immigrate to rural communities

The province shared the results of the second qualifier.

On May 25, the provincial Ontario program sent 64 invitations to candidates in the stream for foreign qualified professionals.

The draw selected candidates who participated in the regional Ontario immigration pilot, which is designed to meet the labour needs of small and rural municipalities. It can be used to immigrate to one of three areas of the province:

  • Chatham-Kent;
  • Cornwall;
  • Quint West/Belleville.

A regional pilot does not require passing points.

To participate in the Foreign Skilled Trades stream, candidates must have received a job offer from an Ontario employer and have 2 years or more experience in a similar occupation.

Selected candidates have 6 months to apply for permanent residency with the Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
