Immigration to the Northwest Territories - Canada's provincial program (NTNP)
You can immigrate to Canada through one of the provincial programs, the Northwest Territories Nominee Program.
The Northwest Territories are located in the subarctic part of Canada and are washed to the north by the Arctic Ocean. The region is famous for its natural resources, including forests, gold, diamonds, natural gas, and oil. Despite the large area, only 40,000 people live in this part of Canada, with half of them in the regional capital, Yellowknife. The city is both a major industrial center of the area and a picturesque place with rich recreational and tourist opportunities.
Candidates who do not score the required points for immigration to Canada through the federal program can try to immigrate through one of the 11 provincial programs. They are suitable for a wide range of occupations. These programs are also interesting for those who plan to live and work in a particular province or territory.
The Northwest Territories Nominee Program (NTNP) includes several streams for workers and entrepreneurs:
- Skilled Worker stream is for candidates who received a job offer in the Northwest Territories;
- Entry Level/Semi-Skilled Occupations stream is for candidates who have worked in the region for at least 6 months;
- NWT Express Entry stream is for candidates who have an Express Entry profile and meet the requirements of the Federal Skilled Worker program;
- Business stream is for entrepreneurs who are planning to start or invest in a business in the Northwest Territories.
By choosing one of these destinations, you can receive a nomination from the province, through which you can apply for permanent residency in Canada and Canadian citizenship after three years of permanent residency.
