Immigration to Newfoundland and Labrador - Canada's provincial program (NLPNP)

Immigration to Newfoundland and Labrador - Canada

You can immigrate to Canada through one of the provincial programs, the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program.

The province of Newfoundland and Labrador is the easternmost of Canada's Atlantic provinces. It occupies part of the Labrador Peninsula and Newfoundland Island. Although there is little industry here, the province is rich in natural resources. One fifth of the population lives in the capital, city of St. Johns. It is one of the oldest cities in North America, it was founded back in the 16th century.

Applicants who do not score the required points for immigration to Canada through the federal program can try to immigrate through one of the 11 provincial programs. They are suitable for a wide range of occupations. These programs are also interesting for those who plan to live and work in a particular province or territory.

The Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) has several streams.

Streams for employees

  • Express Entry Skilled Worker stream is for candidates who have a job offers in Newfoundland and Labrador and an account in the Express Entry system;
  • Skilled Worker stream is for candidates who have a job offer in the province or are already working in the province;
  • International Graduate stream is for NL graduates who have a job offer in the province.

Streams for entrepreneurs

Other ways to immigrate to NL

Newfoundland and Labrador, along with the other Atlantic provinces, participate in the Atlantic Immigration Program, which allows skilled professionals, trades and university graduates to move to Canada.

By choosing one of these streams, you can qualify for a provincial nomination, which will allow you to get a permanent residency in Canada and Canadian citizenship after three years of permanent residency.
