Immigration to Alberta for law enforcement officers
Applicants who have secured a job with Alberta's police force can immigrate through the Law Enforcement Pathway.
The Law Enforcement Pathway of Alberta's provincial immigration program allows candidates invited to work in Alberta's law enforcement agencies to immigrate.
Eligibility requirements
To apply for immigration, candidates must meet the requirements of the Alberta Express Entry stream, namely:
- have an active profile in the Express Entry system;
- meet the minimum criteria for one of the federal programs:
- score a minimum of 300 points in the Express Entry system.
Your chances of receiving an invitation through this stream may be lower if your Express Entry profile expires in 5 months or earlier.
An additional requirement is a job offer from an Alberta police force. The offer must come from an employer member of the Alberta Association of Chiefs of Police (AACP). The list of eligible occupations is limited to:
- commissioned (management) police offers and related occupations in public protection services;
- police investigators and other investigative occupations;
- police officers (except commissioned).
How to apply
Candidates need to create a profile in the Express Entry system but they cannot directly express interest in immigrating to Alberta. The province itself reviews candidates who have received job offers from AACP employers and determines if they meet the requirements of the Law Enforcement Pathway. If successful, you will receive an email with a link to submit your application.
After application, you will be awarded points according to the points grid. The most successful candidates will be invited for immigration.
