Ontario will host a science carnival
Entertainment for the whole family based at Gwelph University.
Royal City Science is organizing a unique carnival called Curiosity, turning education into entertainment. The event will take place on Family Day weekend, February 17 and 18, at the MacKinnon Building on the main campus of Gwelph University in Ontario.
"This is a way to bring families together to kind of come for a one-stop shop to be emersed in a whole bunch of STEM disciplines and programming all at the same time," says Royal City Science co-founder Orbax Thomas.
What are the promises?
The Curiosity Carnival will offer visitors a variety of activities, including, for example, a portable planetarium in an inflatable dome that allows them to study the starry sky at any time. There will also be an outdoor area with various interactive programs and workshops from local colleges.
In addition, the carnival will feature the latest scientific advances that raise serious ethical questions.
"We live in a world where this tech is exceeding our boundaries of what we really know and how to use it," Thomas noted.
A new generation of scientists who grew up with these technologies will face these challenges and shape our future, he said.
For all ages
The carnival will not only be fun for kids, but adults as well. On Saturday night, February 17, there will be a science game show, Freestyle Socials — Remix 'N Match, hosted by Anthony Morgan of CBC's The Nature of Things. This is an interactive show that actively engages the audience. The topics raised may be controversial, but ultimately bring people together.
