British Columbia conducted a selection process among professionals in high-demand occupations
Invitations were extended to educators, construction workers and more.
On January 16, the Canadian province of British Columbia held an immigration draw for in-demand occupations. A total of up to 198 invitations were sent to skilled workers and international graduates. Some of the applicants were registered in the Express Entry system.
Selection was made for the following professionals:
- early childhood educators and assistant educators — 53 invitations;
- specialists in the field of construction — 20 invitations;
- health professionals — 29 invitations;
- technicians — 91 invitations;
- veterinarians and veterinary technicians — less than 5 invitations.
Passing scores for most occupations do not change from selection to selection. Educators, medics and veterinarians need to pass the 60-point threshold in the provincial assessment system, while construction workers need to pass the 75-point threshold. They were last invited during the previous draw on Jan. 10.
But the selection for technical specialists was held last time on December 19. And the passing score has increased significantly since then: from 95 to 103 points.
