B.C.'s first immigration draw of the year
And in several categories at once.
On January 10, British Columbia held its first 2024 invitation drawing. In total, up to 377 people received them.
The 110 invitations were distributed to applicants in the following categories:
- Skilled Worker (including those registered in the Express Entry system) — minimum score of 120;
- International Graduate (including those registered in the Express Entry system) — minimum score of 120;
- Entry Level and Semi-Skilled — minimum score of 100.
The passing scores are up from the previous overall selection, which was held December 12.
Some 267 more invitations were distributed among representatives of in-demand professions, a full list of which can be viewed here. Some candidates were also registered in the system Express Entry:
- Early Childhood Educators and Assistants — 113 invitations;
- Specialists in Construction — 74 invitations;
- Healthcare Professionals — 75 invitations;
- Veterinarians and zoo and veterinary technicians — less than 5 invitations.
The threshold for candidates to be selected in targeted draws has been set at 60 points, the same as in 2023. Except for experts in the field of construction — they need to score 75 points to get an invitation. The last time the targeted selection was held December 19.
