New Brunswick will hold two sessions to find workers

The province of New Brunswick has announced a job fair and information session to be held this October. Professionals from many sectors are welcome at the events. This is a great chance to find a job in New Brunswick and immigrate to the province.

Both events will take place in Mexico City. However, residents of all countries are allowed to participate if they have an eligible occupation and meet other requirements.

General requirements

Both events are only open to candidates who have at least one year of experience in a suitable occupation and a prepared Canadian-format CV.

Those who wish to take part must fill out an application form on the New Brunswick website. Provincial representatives will then review all applications and select the most suitable candidates. They will be sent an invitation to the event, along with the exact time and location.

If you have already taken the education credentials evaluation and passed a language test, this will greatly increase your chances of receiving an invitation. Having relatives in New Brunswick and not having relatives in other regions of Canada also increases your chances.

You may register for a job fair or information session with your spouse or partner regardless of their occupation.

Job fair for skilled trades

From October 15 to 17, a job fair will be held for candidates with skilled trades occupations. At the job fair, you can meet employers from the province, have an interview, and sign a work contract.

The candidate can then come to New Brunswick on a work visa and apply for permanent residency under any New Brunswick program, one of the federal programs, or the Atlantic Immigration Program.

The following occupations are invited to participate:

• electrical and electronics engineers;
• construction estimators;
• tailors, dressmakers, furriers and milliners;
• machinists and machining and tooling inspectors;
• welders and related machine operators;
• carpenters;
• heating, refrigeration and air conditioning mechanics;
• automotive service technicians, truck and bus mechanics and mechanical repairers;
• auto body collision, refinishing and glass technicians and damage repair estimators;
• concrete finishers;
• painters and decorators;
• residential and commercial installers and servicers;
• transport truck drivers;
• heavy equipment operators;
• construction trades helpers and labourers;
• other trades helpers and labourers;
• aquaculture and marine harvest labourers;
• industrial painters, coaters and metal finishing process operators.

Information session on living and working in New Brunswick

On October 18, there will be an information session in French. At such events, New Brunswick representatives talk about the benefits of living in the province and possible immigration paths.

This session will focus on immigration under the New Brunswick Express Entry stream in the In-Demand Occupation Connection category. The region is looking for candidates with in-demand occupations who qualify for this program and can get permanent residency under it in the future.

New Brunswick Express Entry stream requirements, In-Demand Occupation Connection category:

• meet the requirements of one of the three federal immigration programs;
• register in the Express Entry system;
• have one year or more of work experience in a skilled occupation;
• have an above-average knowledge of English or French (CLB 7);
• score a minimum of 67 points out of 100 on the New Brunswick's scoring system.

Candidates with occupations in the following sectors are invited to participate in the information session:

• legislative and senior management occupations;
• business, finance and administration;
• natural and applied sciences;
• healthcare;
• education, law and social, public and government services;
• arts, culture, recreation and sports;
• sales and service;
• trades, transport and equipment operators;
• natural resources and agriculture;
• manufacturing and utilities.
