Three immigration selections in Ontario

Who was lucky enough to get an invitation?

On August 1, several selections for Ontario's provincial immigration program took place. A total of 840 invitations were sent to candidates from three streams: Foreign Worker, Masters Graduate, and PhD Graduate.

Among foreign workers, only 1 candidate who took advantage of the Economic Mobility Pathways Program received an invitation. It is designed for skilled refugees. The applicant needed to score 36 points in the provincial scoring system.

Foreign workers receive points for their occupation, salary, earning history, language skills, and employer's location in Ontario. The previous selection for this category was held on June 20, with the same minimum score, but regular candidates, not refugees, were invited.

Among masters graduates, 755 individuals were selected who scored 48 points or more. 84 invitations were given to PhD graduates. They needed 39 points.

Points for masters and PhDs are awarded for Canadian work experience, occupation, income, language level, field of study, and similar factors.
