New job vacancies in Canada, simplification of immigration, and other news
We are sharing important events of the week of February 13 to 19.
Canada introduced dental benefits for children under 12. Assistance will be up to CAN$ 650 per year, and families with an annual income of less than CAN$ 90,000 can apply.
Work in Canada
And those who work in Canada now have a new reason for paid leave. Some companies are willing to provide employees with a so-called pawternity leave: days off to care for a new pet. These will be three days of paid time off and two days at the employee's expense.
The province of New Brunswick will hold a virtual job fair in 2023 that is suitable for many skilled and trades workers. At the event, you can have interviews with employers and get a job offer.
If you are considering seasonal work, now is the time to look for vacancies. Canada's parks and resorts are already looking for employees for the summer. And to make your search easier, we have compiled some exciting job openings.
New opportunities and records of Canada
Alberta is determined to support foreign nurses. Specialists will be able to receive up to CAN$ 30,000 to cover training, licensing, and day-to-day expenses. But for every CAN$ 6,000, they will need to work as a nurse in the province for a year.
Teenagers can make the most of this summer. Canadian Fanshawe College organizes a language camp for children aged 14-17. Teenagers will have 15 hours of English per week, career exploration, and many activities, trips, and excursions. The cost of three weeks is CAN$ 4,400, tickets and visa application are not included.
Canada is simplifying popular Home Child Care Provider and Home Support Worker immigration pilots. They work in such a way that you first need to find a job in Canada, work for a certain time, and then you can get permanent residency. From April 30, the permanent residence will require one year of work instead of two.
Canada's new record. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship has published data on international students in the country in 2022. More than 551,000 people received study permits, and in total there were 807,000 students from abroad in Canada. Both indicators are absolute records. Graduates receive a work permit in Canada, and additional immigration programs are available for them.
Immigration draws
On February 14, British Columbia issued 237 invitations. This time, only candidates with in-demand occupations were selected: technical workers, healthcare professionals, educators, and veterinarians.
On February 15, an Express Entry draw for candidates with provincial nominations took place. 699 people were selected, but the passing score increased greatly.
Another draw was held on February 16 by Prince Edward Island. The region sent 228 invitations. 6 of them were received by entrepreneurs, and the rest by skilled specialists, critical workers, and international graduates.
