Popular immigration program simplifies

Immigration for women is becoming even more accessible.

Great news for those planning to immigrate to Canada through Home Childcare Provider or Home Support Worker programs! As of April 30, 2023, work experience requirements for permanent residency will be simplified.

Nannies and caregivers are now required to have 1 year of work experience to qualify for permanent residency, instead of 2 years as it was previously. This was announced by Canadian Members of Parliament Salma Zahid and Rechie Valdes on behalf of the Minister of Immigration.

"Caregivers are indispensable in assisting Canadian families, and it's an honour for us to provide them a more expedited route to permanent residence and prosperous integration into Canada," Salma Zahid.

Caregivers immigration programs allow candidates to obtain permanent residency in several stages. First, you need to find a job with a Canadian family, then apply for a work visa. After that, you come to Canada and, after working for 1 year, apply for permanent residency. Thanks to the new measure, nannies and caregivers will receive permanent residency faster. For those who have already applied, this also applies.

"Caregivers are an important option for families in Canada and have played an instrumental role in the lives of many growing children, aging parents, and those who need additional specialized care," Sean Fraser, Canada's minister of immigration.

The Department of Immigration intends to continue to improve the programs. This is a pilot project and is scheduled to end in June 2024. The future of the programs is still under discussion. In 2022, about 1,100 nannies and caregivers and their families received permanent residency.
