New job opportunities in Canada and other news of the week
What happened in Canada during the week of November 15-21?
Immigration selections
In the past week, Canada has held 4 immigration raffles in which more than 1,300 applicants were invited to immigrate.
BC has selected 87 people among the participants in the Technical Program, which is designed for IT professionals. Over the past few selections, the passing score has remained the same.
Saskatchewan held its largest draw of the year, calling 633 applicants. The selection was in two categories: for in-demand professions and for those who met the requirements of one of the federal programs and created a profile in the Express Entry system.
Manitoba sent out 428 invitations to professionals who are in the province, candidates from abroad and foreign graduates of Manitoba universities. However, passing scores in the past selection process have increased.
Prince Edward Island selected 188 people in several streams. Luck smiled on entrepreneurs, candidates registered in Express Entry, and in-demand specialists: skilled, low-skilled and those who graduated from university in the province.
Quebec shared the result of the drawing the week before last, in which 33 candidates were invited with a provincial job offer. Compared to previous selections, that's very few.
Newfoundland and Labrador has released immigration selection data for several months at a time. The new Priority Skills Program, launched earlier this year, invited 663 candidates with in-demand professions from June to October.
Immigration news
Immigration Canada has shared statistics on which countries' nationals were most likely to receive permanent residency in Canada in 2021. It turned out that about a third of all immigrants, that is, more than 80,000, came from one state.

The province of Nova Scotia has added some professions to its in-demand list. This means companies will be able to hire overseas jobseekers more easily and workers will be able to apply for immigration through the in-demand program.
Jobs in Canada
A district in Ontario is facing a sharp teacher shortage in schools. Professionals are so scarce that schools are willing to hire educators without proper training and licensing. Vacancies are open and each school is expected to employ 2-3 uncertified teachers.
Ontario also saw a record 37,000 new job openings in Canada in October. The province plans to create more jobs in several areas in the near future, and is also considering raising the minimum wage.
When people come to work in Canada, they usually strive for a better life. But sometimes instead they encounter unscrupulous employers and violations of their rights. I interviewed girls who found themselves in this situation. They told me what happened to them and how they managed to resolve the situation.
