New immigration screening in Ontario
The province invited about 500 in-demand specialists.
On October 6, the Ontario Immigration Programme sent out 486 invitations to apply for a provincial nomination. The drawing was held among participants in the required professionals stream. Invitations were received by candidates with a rating in the range of 463-467.
All invited participants had one of the in-demand occupations in Ontario and received a job offer in the province. Applicants were also evaluated on factors such as job offer and salary, location of employer, and work experience in Canada.
Candidates with experience in the following specialties were considered:
- managers of other administrative services;
- banking, credit and other investment managers;
- advertising, marketing and public relations managers;
- Other Business Services Managers;
- technical managers;
- health care managers;
- corporate sales managers;
- restaurant and catering managers;
- construction managers;
- transportation managers;
- managers of production;
- human resources professionals;
- professional classes in business management consulting;
- mathemathematicians, statisticians, and actuaries;
- diploma nurses and registered psychiatric nurses;
- medical laboratory technologists;
- optics;
- licensed nurses.
