Quebec had its long-awaited and largest selection of the year

On August 12, Quebec's immigration program sent 515 invitations through the Arrima expression of interest system. Selections were made for candidates in the skilled workers stream. This is the largest draw of 2021.

The selected candidates scored a minimum of 591 points on the Arrima evaluation system. In July this year, Quebec changed the candidate selection process and introduced a point-based evaluation system. Points are awarded for factors such as age, language skills, education, work experience, demand for the profession in Quebec, availability of education and work experience in Quebec, and so on. Previously, participants were not awarded points in the Arrima system.

In addition to points, applicants selected in the past selection process had a provincial job offer outside of Montreal and one of the following occupations:

• computer and information systems managers;
• electromechanical and electronic engineers;
• industrial engineers and technologists;
• computer engineers;
• information systems analytics;
• database analysts and data administrators;
• software developers;
• interactive systems developers;
• web designers and web developers;
• electrical and electronic engineering technicians and technologists;
• computer networking technicians;
• technical support specialists;
• information systems testers;
• producers, directors, choreographers and related professions;
• printing production techniques;
• graphic designers and illustrators;
• specialists in the sales department.

Quebec's immigration programs are managed by the province on the basis of selection criteria and processes different from those of Canada.
