Ontario invited twice as many candidates as usual
The province has conducted the largest immigration screening.
On July 27, the Ontario Immigration Program issued 1,031 invitations to apply for a nomination from the province. The selection was for the Human Capital Priorities stream, which is a program for qualified professionals with at least a bachelor's degree. In each selection, the province gives preference to the participants most in demand in the labour market.
To participate in this stream, a candidate must have a profile in the Express Entry system that the federal government of Canada uses to process permanent residence applications and meet the requirements of one of the federal programs:
Applicants who were selected in the past selection process scored between 458 and 467 on the Comprehensive Ranking System and had experience in one of 18 occupations:
- managers of administrative services;
- managers of banks and lending institutions;
- advertising and public relations managers;
- business service managers;
- engineering managers;
- health care managers;
- corporate sales managers;
- managers of restaurants and food service establishments;
- construction managers;
- movement managers;
- production managers;
- human resources specialists;
- specialists in business consulting;
- mathemathematicians, statisticians, and actuaries;
- registered nurses;
- medical laboratory technologists;
- optics;
- licensed nurse practitioners.
Candidates will receive an additional 600 points in Express Entry if they are successful in obtaining a nomination from the province. Due to this high score, they will easily be able to receive an invitation to permanent residence in the next selection.
To maximize your chances of receiving an invitation from Ontario, we recommend that you keep an eye on history of pass scores and number of invitations.
