British Columbia achieves its immigration goals
The province continues to send out invitations for immigration on a steady basis.
On March 9, BC sent out 95 invitations to apply for a provincial nomination through the Tech Pilot program for IT workers. The selection process took place among the following categories:
- skilled workers in a stream for professionals in different fields (Skills Immigration);
- graduates in a stream for professionals in different fields (Skills Immigration);
- skilled workers in stream for those who go through one of the federal programs (Express Entry);
- graduates in the stream for those in one of the federal programs (Express Entry).
The minimum passing score in all categories was 80 — up from the previous Tech Pilot selection held on February 23.
To be considered eligible for this program, applicants must be registered with one of BC's existing provincial immigration streams and have a valid job offer of at least 12 months in one of the 29 eligible technical pilot occupations.
To apply for the Skills Immigration or Express Entry categories, applicants must first create a profile through the province's online portal and register with its Skills Immigration Registration System.
Candidates are assessed and scored to determine whether they are eligible to apply for this round of selection. The evaluation is based on a number of factors: education level, language skills, work experience and availability of a job offer.
