On December 6, the long-awaited selection of federal program candidates through the Express Entry system took place. A total of 4,750 invitations were sent to candidates with at least 561 points in the Comprehensive Ranking System.

Express Entry is Canada's system for selecting applicants for federal immigration programs. There are three in total:

As part of this selection, invitations were also extended to candidates with provincial nominations.

Today's drawing comes a full month and a half after the previous selection, held October 26. At that time, Canada invited only health care professionals. Applicants with provincial nominations were selected on October 24, and the last general selection was held on October 10. The pass mark has increased substantially since then.
