Winter fun in Canada for Family Day
Want to take your Family Day weekend to new heights? We've got the longest snow tubing in Ontario, a sunrise ski meet and a magical ice skating route at your disposal.
On the third Monday of every February, Canada celebrates Family Day. It is preceded by a holiday weekend beginning on Friday. This holiday weekend can be spent outdoors with a variety of winter activities.
Start the weekend outdoors before Family Day on Friday, Feb. 17, with a sunrise ski outing at Ontario's largest mountain resort, Blue Mountain. The resort's ski trail offers breathtaking views of Georgian Bay, the Gulf of Lake Guron.
Continue your snowy weekend on Saturday, February 18, at Ontario's longest tubing slope at Horseshoe Resort. This Saturday, tubing (or as the older generation calls them, "waders") will be accompanied by a rousing DJ set, and you can light your way with the glow sticks that come with your ticket.
To round out an active weekend, you can make your way to Arrowhead Provincial Park and take a ride under the stars on a magical skating route lit by lanterns.
