Alberta had two draws in a row

This is not typical of this province.

Alberta shared the results of January's immigration draws. There were two in one month. They were only 4 days apart, and for both draws Alberta invited candidates with an Express Entry profile.

On January 19, the province selected 46 people who scored a minimum of 324 on the Comprehensive Ranking System. On January 23, Alberta invited another 154 candidates with a score of 385 or higher.

The previous draw in Alberta took place on December 8. The passing score was much lower — only 305. And before that, the province had not held rounds of invitations for about 6 months.

To receive an invitation, applicants must have an Express Entry profile, which means they meet the requirements of one of the federal immigration programs to Canada:

In January of this year, the Alberta government announced that it would hold separate targeted draws. Those candidates in the provincial immigration program with in-demand occupations and relatives in Alberta will be invited. At this point, there have been no such draws yet.
