Canada held the long-awaited Express Entry draw
There hasn't been a drawing since November 2022.
On January 11, Canada held a major immigration draw in the Express Entry system. This time the number of invitations was 5,500. This is significantly more than in previous rounds.
Participants needed to score 507 points on the Comprehensive Ranking System. Points are awarded for age, work experience, English or French language skills, education, and other factors.
The previous drawing took place on November 23, but the passing score was lower — 491. In this draw, it has increased by 16 points. Canada is supposed to hold biweekly Express Entry draws, but this is the first drawing in a month and a half. The interruption was due to technical problems in the system.

In 2023, the Express Entry system will change. Canada plans to conduct targeted draws and select candidates with in-demand occupations, a certain education, or those who are going to immigrate to a certain province. The country is primarily interested in specialists in healthcare and construction.
