The best ways to move to Canada without a language test

Is it possible to immigrate without English and without passing the IELTS language test? I often get these questions, and I'll tell you right away that it's difficult but possible.

Some immigrants find jobs in Canada without English and get up to $30 CAD per hour, and some get even more. I've prepared five ways for you to move to Canada with no language teat. They are all designed for different categories of people.

The fifth way to move to Canada without a test is suitable for family people. I don't like learning languages, and you could say I have no talent for them. But my wife Ivanna, who works as an immigration consultant, is a real polyglot. Besides her native Russian and Ukrainian, she learned Polish very quickly, and in Canada, she speaks two official languages: English and French. So she knows five languages.

When your family applies for immigration to Canada, you will need to choose a principal applicant. They have stricter requirements for language, education, work experience, and age. The dependent spouse is not particularly useful for scoring points. I didn't take any language tests for immigration at all, my wife did. Nevertheless, I live in Canada just fine, I moved here successfully without taking IELTS.

Moreover, in families, wives are usually younger than husbands, which will give extra points. So my advice is simple — if your spouse has the necessary work experience, let them quit their job and work hard in English. And you will earn money for Canada.

Moving on to the fourth way to move to Canada without taking IELTS. Surprisingly, it is possible to enter a Canadian college, which is an institution of higher education, without knowing English at all. We have clients who got study visas and ended up in Canada. A little detail: on admission, the college issues an official document, which is called a "letter of admission," and there is one phrase in it — you have to prove your language skills before you start your studies.

This can be done in several ways. The most trivial is to take the IELTS language test. But I promised to tell you how to move without it. Instead, you can enroll in an English course at the Canadian language school that we cooperate with. The classes are completely online.

If you study regularly, from Monday to Friday for 3 hours a day, you can achieve excellent results in English. We have dozens of testimonials where people come in with a weak language, but over time they improve, pass internal English tests, and get a certificate from the language school. It is accepted by colleges and language requirements are waived.

The most important thing — you can apply for a study visa, even when you just start studying English courses. But it is better, of course, to do everything in advance. Plan for six months or even a year in advance.

The third way to move to Canada without the language test is suitable for those who want to become truck drivers. This is a very popular occupation, and with it, it's quite easy to get permanent residency in the future under a provincial program. You need to get a tourist visa to Canada and arrive in Toronto, for example. There're a lot of schools where you can take truck driver courses and then find a job and change your status of being in the country.

The main thing is to think of a reason why you need a tourist visa. For example, it could be a desire to learn a language, not online, but on the campus of a language school. You will study English part of your time, and study on a trucker course.

The second way to move to Canada without IELTS doesn't carry any hidden points. There are immigration programs where language knowledge is not particularly important. For example, there is the Ontario program, where you do not need a language test to apply at all.

If you know English, you will get extra points. If you're not that good, you can apply without it, because it is much more important to get a job offer for this program. Canada is extremely short of workers, and local companies are looking for specialists even outside the country. At the construction site, you do not need to know English well and can earn $30-35 CAD per hour.

If you are used to working as a freelancer, there is the Self-Employed Persons Program. You have to be in a creative or sporting occupation to apply. It is very easy to get a passing score there without taking an English test.

What is my top priority for moving to Canada without learning English? Canada has two official languages: English and French. You can learn French instead of English and move to the province of Quebec. I lived there for almost 4 years, it definitely has its charm, and the region itself is not bad. Moreover, in the Express Entry system, you get more points for French than for English at the same level.
