Four Ontario selections for candidates with Expression of Interest profiles
In addition to candidates with job offers, master's and PhD candidates, as well as alumni, are invited.
Candidates were selected from among those who had previously registered in the Expression of Interest pool. To qualify for immigration through the Provincial Immigration Program Ontario stream, candidates must register an Expression of Interest (EOI) profile on the program website and achieve the required passing score.
On February 28, invitations were issued to 173 Ph.D.s who had received Dr. degrees in any field from Canadian universities. In the CIS, this degree is equivalent to a PhD. In the February 28 selection, the minimum score for the PhD was 16.
On March 1, invitations were sent out to potential Expression of Interest applicants in three streams at once:
-
Masters Graduate;
-
Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker;
-
Employer Job Offer: International Student.
The Masters Graduate stream is for candidates who have earned a master's degree from Ontario universities. This time, the province sent out 238 invitations, with a minimum score of 41.
The Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker stream invited 456 people who already had a job offer in Ontario. The minimum score was 39.
411 foreign graduates of Canadian universities were selected on the general basis, they were required only to achieve a passing score — this time the minimum score was 72.
Graduates with one of the 40-plus occupations now in demand in Ontario needed only 42 points. The targeted selection invited 215 people. Among them were crane operators, plumbers, carpenters, roofers and electricians. But there were also service professions on the list: for example, user support specialists.
