Borders are open: who needs to reapply for a visa?

Some travellers who have applied for a visitor visa to Canada must resend it.

On September 7, Canada opened its borders to fully vaccinated tourists. This became known back in August, and some travellers have had time to apply in advance for a visitor visa. However, it may have to be done again.

Immigration and Citizenship Canada has updated the instructions on how to enter Canada. Those who are waiting for approval based on the following reasons can reapply for a visitor's visa

  • reunification with family living in Canada;
  • business visit;
  • attending a funeral or caring for a seriously ill relative in Canada.

If possible, the number of the previous application should be given when sending the documents. If you submit a second application, the previous application will be cancelled, but there is no guarantee of a refund. If your trip to Canada is not urgent, you can simply wait for your application to be processed without sending another one.

Visitor visas to Canada, or temporary resident visas, are issued to tourists, foreign workers and students. A number of requirements must be met in order for the visa to be approved, such as proving that you have enough money to support yourself while in Canada. In some cases, biometrics and physical examinations are required. If you have a criminal record or serious health problems, you may be denied entry.

A visitor's visa usually allows you to stay in Canada for up to 6 months and allows multiple entries. For workers and students, the visa period may be longer. It can also be extended.

Our company employs licensed immigration consultants who help you process and apply for visas, including visitor visas, and put together a strategy with minimal risk of visa denial.
