Confirm your permanent resident status online
A new portal created by Canada's Department of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship has been launched for this purpose.
To deal with the Coronavirus Disease Outbreak (COVID-19), applicants now have the option to obtain Permanent Resident (PR) status without an in-person interview through a new secure permanent resident portal created on the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada website.
On this email page, you will be able to mark that you are in Canada, as well as confirm your address, send a recent photo that the ministry will use to create your PR card. There you will also be given access to your verified permanent resident (PR) status.
It is possible to act as the main applicant on behalf of the portal:
1. Minor dependents (under 18 years of age at the time of application for permanent residence).
2. any other dependents of your choice (over the age of 18 at the time of application).
Profiles will be created for dependents under your account. If you are not acting on their behalf, then each member of your family will need to create their own profile with a username and password.
The portal is separate from your secure IRCC account. It cannot be used to go to your other applications and check their status. You don't need to be afraid to share your personal information here — the portal is highly secure.
How the portal works
Once the Ministry approves your application for a permanent residence permit, you will be sent an invitation to confirm it.
If you want to use the online portal, then you will need to provide your email address as well as the email addresses for each person in your application. The portal will create an account for you (you cannot create one yourself). You will then be sent another email with a link to the portal and instructions on how to log in with your username and temporary password.
After which you will be able to:

1. Log in for the first time and create your own password.
2. Confirm your presence in Canada.
3. Provide an updated home or mailing address.
4. Upload your photo.
Once the ministry reviews and accepts the photo you sent, it will appear on the portal and you will receive your PR card within one week to the mailing address you provide in Canada.
Uploading and Sending Photos
You will be able to check if the ministry has accepted your photo through the portal. If not, then you will have to send a new photo, which must meet all the necessary requirements.
A photo will not be accepted if it is: too dark, facial features are not visible, or there is glare in the photo. See requirements for details photos..
Upload your professionally made photo in JPEG or PNG format or scan it and upload it as well. Do not take a picture of your paper photo with a digital camera or phone and upload it.
You can upload your different photos to choose the best one. Each new photo automatically replaces the previous one. Once you click "send", the photo can no longer be changed.
It's important to know:
— An immigration representative (also known as an immigration consultant or lawyer) can give you advice and help you use the portal for a fee. However, he or she cannot log in to the portal with your username and password, nor can he or she claim to be in Canada on your behalf.
— You should contact the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) directly with any questions related to the use of the portal.
— If there are any problems with your PR card, the Ministry will contact you directly.
— If you are not receiving emails from IRCC, check your spam folder.
— It is not possible to renew PR-card through the portal. Know how to renew PR-card.
— When the Ministry creates an account for you and sends a password to your email, it will be valid for 14 days. If this password has expired or you have forgotten the password, you can reset it using the link on the portal.
