New Express Entry selection: more invitations, lower pass rate

Canada delighted in an immigration shenanigan by inviting more candidates than usual.

On April 16, Canada sent 6,000 invitations to candidates registered with Express Entry and who participated in the immigration program for specialists with experience in Canada (Canadian Experience Class).

The draw took place two days after the selection among provincial program candidates. Since the beginning of 2021, Canada has often conducted selections in this manner.

For the past selection, the minimum passing score on the Comprehensive Ranking System was 417. This was 15 points lower than in the previous selection for professionals with Canadian experience, which took place on April 1, 2021.

This new drawing, held immediately after the round for provincial program applicants, shows that Canada continues to prioritize immigration applicants while travel restrictions continue to apply.

Moreover, Canada is accepting more and more applicants. Previously, a maximum of 5,000 applicants were selected on the stream for professionals with experience in Canada, not counting the record draw in February, in which more than 27,000 people were invited — all of whom were registered in the system at the time of selection.
