Digest of the week: selections, innovations for immigrants and another lockdown

The most important news of the week 30.03. – 04.04.

Immigration news

Between March 30 and April 4, there were 3 immigration selections in Canada:

  • British Columbia invited 374 candidates;
  • 284 people with a provincial nomination received an invitation in the Express Entry selection;
  • and another 5,000 candidates were the lucky ones in the Express Entry selection among professionals with Canadian experience.

The province of Quebec has delighted in the opening of a new immigration pilot for caregivers. The pilot will be valid until 2026, and in 2021 you can apply until October 31. But the acceptance of applications under Quebec's immigration program for investors is once again on hold. It has been suspended since as early as 2019. The provincial government needs a break to modernize the immigration system.

There were two updates from Immigration Canada this week at once. They extended the opportunity to simplified work permit until August 31. If a person is in Canada and gets a permit, they no longer have to leave and cross the border again to get the new status.

Immigration services, unfortunately, are not always provided in a quality and in accordance with the deadlines. But now people can receive partial compensation if deadlines are missed.

Pandemic and vaccination

Canada has little to cheer about in this regard. After much discussion and debate, the National Advisory Committee on Immunization has recommended not using the AstraZeneca vaccine for people under the age of 55. Many provinces have already heeded and suspended vaccination with the drug. Instead, Pfizer said its vaccine is safe and 100% effective for children. And several Canadian provinces are again imposing lockdowns amid a surge in illness.

Work

On April 1, 4 provinces increased the minimum wage. But the minimum wage is very different from the average. Statistics showed what average income is for residents of different provinces.

Do you want to work in Canada? Then be sure to check out my new video about which professions are in the top most in-demand this year. And Canada is also looking for people who want to work on the census. They're offering starting at $17.83 Canadian dollars an hour!

English Language

Immigrating to Canada without knowing the language is almost on the verge of fiction. ILAC is the best language school in Canada, where you can learn English with native speakers online and live. The school has launched a promotion: up to June 30 you will receive additional weeks as a gift when booking 6 weeks or more of courses. And also the school has worked out how to keep the children occupied over the summer holidays and is running language camp online. Learning English and having fun is the perfect time for your child!
