Changes to New Brunswick's provincial program

Changes to New Brunswick

Innovations 2024.

The Province of New Brunswick has announced changes to its own immigration program, and more specifically, to the list of requirements for the skilled worker stream. It is intended for applicants with a job offer in the province and an intention to settle in New Brunswick.

So, effective January 1, 2024, the requirements for applicants are adjusted as follows:

  1. Candidates already in the province of New Brunswick, in order to receive an Invitation to Apply, now need to have a relevant job offer and proof of at least 6 months residency in New Brunswick.
  2. Applicants from other provinces and abroad will be able to receive an invitation if their qualifying job offer falls only in the TEER 5 category (occupations that do not require specialized formal education). However, food counter attendants, kitchen assistants and related support occupations are excluded from the list of eligible occupations. Applicants from other provinces and overseas with these occupations will no longer be able to receive invitations under this stream.
  3. New Brunswick's new invitations will not be issued to candidates from other provinces or overseas whose job offer matches categories TEER 0, 1, 2, 3 or 4.

Candidates whose occupations no longer qualify for this immigration stream are encouraged to speak with their New Brunswick employer about other available avenues, including federal immigration programs and Atlantic Immigration Program.
