New Express Entry selection for French-speaking candidates
The passing grade has dropped slightly.
On December 7, another immigration draw was held through the Express Entry system among applicants who know French. In order to participate in these drawings, the level of language proficiency must be confirmed: it must be at least CLB 7, which roughly corresponds to the B2 level (above average).
A total of exactly 1,000 invitations were sent this time to candidates who scored at least 470 points in the Comprehensive Ranking System.
By the standards of the federal immigration program, this is a good indicator, and in comparison with the previous selection for francophones, it has decreased. The last such drawing was held on October 25, when applicants with at least 486 points received invitations.
Express Entry is the system used in Canada to select applicants for federal immigration programs:
Points are awarded for age, education, language skills, work experience, having a job offer in Canada, ability to adapt to the country and so on.

There were no Express Entry draws for an unusually long time — a whole month and a half until yesterday. On December 6 the general selection for different categories of applicants took place.
We will continue to follow the history of the Express Entry selections and keep you updated with the most up-to-date information about the passing marks and number of invitations.
