Quebec reports on November's immigration shenanigans

Quebec reports on November

The province has sent out over a thousand invitations.

Quebec has published a report on the next immigration draw, which took place on November 16. As has become a tradition in recent months, the province sent out 1,210 invitations at once.

Candidates meeting one of the following criteria were selected:

  1. Have a job offer outside of Montreal and its suburbs;
  2. Or have an oral French proficiency of level 7 on the provincial grading system (above average) and score 609 points on the Arrima grading system.

Quebec's previous draw was held October 26, at which time invitations were sent to those who had found work outside of Montreal or had one of the in-demand professions. The pass rate was a bit lower back then.

In the Arrima system, points are awarded for language skills (primarily French), education, work experience, age, profession, and having a job offer in Quebec.

Quebec is the only province in Canada with its own immigration system. The region sets the criteria for selecting candidates independently of the federal government.
