New record! The lowest Express Entry score ever seen
A few thousand more people will be able to get permanent residency in Canada.
On July 12, Canada held another draw for immigration candidates through the Express Entry system, and once again the country decreased the passing score to a record low.
This time, 3,800 people who know French at CLB level 7 or above received invitations. This is above average and roughly equal to the B2 level. Candidates also needed to score at least 375 points in the Comprehensive Ranking System. This is a very low score for Express Entry selections, the last time this happened was in 2021.
Points are awarded for factors such as age, education, language skills, work experience, having a job offer in Canada, ability to adapt to the country, and more.
Earlier, the selection for candidates with knowledge of French was held just 5 days ago, on July 7. The passing score was 64 points higher.
Also in July, Canada held a series of other draws for various candidates registered in Express Entry:
- July 4: general selection, 700 invitations, a score of 511;
- July 5: selection for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics occupations, 500 invitations, a score of 486;
- July 6: selection for healthcare occupations, 1,500 invitations, a score of 463;
- July 11: general selection, 800 invitations, a score of 505.
The Express Entry system is used in Canada to assess and select candidates for immigration under federal programs.
