Canada's immigration minister announces new immigration flows
Who can now qualify for the possibility of receiving a permanent residence permit?
Immigration and Citizenship Secretary Sean Fraser announced the launch of two new streams of the Economic Mobility Pilot Program (EMPP). In doing so, he fulfilled a promise made in late March of this year. Candidates can also continue to apply for other pilot program streams. Some provincial programs, Atlantic Immigration Program and Rural and Northern Immigration Program work with EMPP. If a candidate meets the requirements of these programs and has refugee status, they can move to Canada under the EMPP.
To qualify for an EMPP, you must be a refugee, be outside of Canada at the time of your application, and not be ineligible to stay in Canada. The right to stay is usually denied to a person who has committed a serious crime, has a serious or socially dangerous illness, does not have sufficient financial means to support himself and/or his family, or has violated Canada's Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
The government has learned from the first EMPP streams, and the new 2 streams promise to be even more effective. They will allow refugees to come to Canada and get the job even faster . Moreover, applicants do not need Canadian work experience to apply for the new streams.
As already mentioned, 2 new streams were announced this week. The first, Federal Skills Job Offer, is for candidates who have already received a job offer from a Canadian employer. The second, Federal Skills Without a Job Offer, is available to refugees who are highly qualified but have no offers from employers.
The Federal Skills Job Offer stream allows employers in Canada to hire qualified refugees in high-demand occupations: nurse aides, software engineers, web designers, electrical engineers, tourism and hospitality workers, truck drivers, and many others. The candidate must also have at least one year of work experience in the profession and a certain language level: CLB 4 for low skilled occupations and CBL 5 for high skilled occupations.
