As well as commemorative coins and stamps in honor of Charles III.
The federal government has instructed the Bank of Canada to create a new CAD 20 bill: now Queen Elizabeth II is depicted on such bills, but soon Charles III will take her place.
The announcement was made in a press release by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau after speculation as to whether Canada would follow act just as Great Britain and honor the new monarch by placing him on money.
Coins and stamps
The Royal Canadian Mint has also received an offer to create coins depicting the new king that will go into regular circulation.
The reigning monarch first appeared on paper money in 1935 and on coins in 1908.
President and CEO of the Royal Canadian Mint, Marie Lemay, told the media that the process of making the official effigy of Charles that will adorn Canada's currency has several steps. First the Mint will have to invite artists to express interest and submit proposed designs. Once one is chosen, it will need to be finalized and approved by Buckingham Palace.
"We expect to be able to share the selected design in the fall, so I think that will be a big moment," Lemay said.
Presumably, the process of creating the new bill will take 2 years. The current Canadian money depicting Elizabeth II will remain legal.
Canada Post also released its first regular-circulation stamp featuring King Charles as monarch. It continues the corporation's tradition of issuing definitive stamps depicting the Canadian sovereign, dating back more than 170 years.

As for everyday coins, the image of Charles will face to the left, unlike the coins with his mother's image that looks to the right.
The event also featured the Royal Canadian Mint's coronation collectible solid gold and silver coins.
Coronation Ceremony in Canada
The federal government honored the coronation of Canada's new head of state with a ceremony of its own. The ceremony on a Parliament Hill at the Sir John A. MacDonald building in Ottawa included speeches, musical performances and a 21-gun-salute.
As for Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, he attended the coronation ceremony at Westminster Abbey with his wife as well as Governor General Mary Simon and her husband along with other members of the Canadian delegation.
The leaders of the New Democratic Party Jagmeet Singh and the head of the Conservative Party of Canada Pierre Poilevre were not present.
