Controversy about transgender people in Canada and other news

Controversy about transgenders, scandals in the government, and other news.

During the pandemic, many Canadians moved to cottage villages. It was safer, there was more entertainment than in a quarantined city, and they could work from home. Now people are eager to move back to the city because the restrictions were lifted, some companies are returning employees to the office, and the villages have their downsides. So the cost of cottages is falling. Now the average cottage price in the country is CAD 592,000.

Controversy in Canada

In Canada, there is controversy about the participation of transgender women in women's competitions. Now anyone who declares themselves a woman can participate in the women's category. So, a professional powerlifter took part in women's competitions as a protest and broke the record that was previously set by a transgender woman. And in the U.S., a woman, a swimming champion, finished at the same time as her transgender competitor, but the award went to the latter.

Facebook and Twitter claim pressure from the Canadian government. Recently, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada asked platforms to remove an article that contained "erroneous information" and could "undermine the public's confidence." The Conservative Party and journalism experts criticize the ruling party's attempts to control the media.

Work and business opportunities

Canada is a great country for doing business. The Start-up Visa program allows entrepreneurs with innovative ideas to obtain permanent residency at any age and with any language skills. We have collected the most interesting Canadian startups for 2022.

Ontario creates new jobs. Over the past 5 years, about half a million vacancies have appeared in the province. The province is also actively attracting investment. For example, Volkswagen is about to build its first electric vehicle battery plant in Canada. Ford plans to retool its plant and also produce batteries. In addition, Ontario has opened its own production of electric vehicles.

And in addition to the development of the auto sector, Ontario will facilitate the employment of foreign doctors. They will be able to work in the region without restrictions, but only if they studied in the U.S., U.K., Ireland, or Australia. The same conditions already exist in Alberta. And Nova Scotia previously allowed doctors with U.S. degrees not to take exams for work.

New Brunswick updated its job fairs to be held in France and Belgium. The region has expanded the list of professions: nurses, nursing assistants, orderlies, kindergarten, primary and secondary school teachers, educators, accountants, plumbers, carpenters, and auto mechanics can now participate in the fairs.

Canada in rankings

In Canada, universities with the best reputation were ranked. The top 5 included the University of Toronto, the University of Waterloo, the University of British Columbia, McGill University, and McMaster University.

And Montreal is among the world's top cities with the best transport infrastructure. 83% of city residents are satisfied with public transport.

Immigration draws

On April 11, Ontario issued 295 invitations to immigrate. They were received by candidates with in-demand skills. There have been no draws for them since June 2022, so the new draw was very much anticipated.

On the same day, Nova Scotia sent out letters of interest to healthcare professionals who are registered in the Express Entry system. Those who receive notification must fill out a form on the Nova Scotia official website. The province didn't name the number of invitees.

Another draw on April 11 was held by British Columbia. The province issued 132 invitations to candidates with priority occupations. They were technicians, doctors, and educators.

On April 12, another Express Entry draw took place, but this time without record numbers, unlike previous draws. A total of 3,500 candidates were invited, and the passing score increased slightly
