Regina Spektor's concert in Toronto

Regina Spektor

This spring, one of the most notable performers of the 2000s, will perform in Canada as part of a tour in support of her new album, Home, Before and After.

Regina Spector's new tour in support of her last year's album, Home, Before and After, kicks off March 1 at the State Theatre of Ithaca, New York. The very next day, March 2, the singer will perform in Toronto at the famous Massey Hall, called Canada's Carnegie Hall. Thanks to its unique acoustics, Massey Hall was the long-time hall of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. This will be the singer's only performance in Canada.

The career of the Soviet-born American singer (Regina, 9, moved with her parents from Moscow to New York in 1989) took off dramatically in the mid-2000s after the release of her fourth album, Begin to Hope. The LP was produced by David Kahn, known for his work with Paul McCartney himself. The musicians of The Strokes took part in the recording of the album.

Successful singles from this album "Fidelity", "On the Radio", "Better" and "Samson", as well as the track "Après Moi", which contains lines by Boris Pasternak, quickly made Regina Spektor known far beyond the circle of extravagant indie music fans. As a result "Begin to Hope" got into Billboard's Top 20 albums, and the songs from it got into an incredible number of movies and TV shows. The record was short-listed for the prestigious Shortlist Music Prize and has been awarded gold status in the USA, Australia and New Zealand.

Her next album "Far" the singer released already in the status of a star. Fortunately, this did not affect the quality of the music: each new release of the singer is always another confirmation that Regina Spektor is unique, she cannot be confused with anyone else.

At the moment Regina Spektor has eight studio albums, one official live album "Live in London", singles recorded specially for films ("The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian", "Dan in Real Life") and TV series ("Orange Is the New Black").
