Canada makes up for missed Express Entry draws

The country held a new selection just one week later.

On January 18, Canada held a new immigration draw in the Express Entry system.

Invitations were extended to the 5,500 candidates who scored a minimum of 490 on the Comprehensive Ranking System. This is the lowest passing score since Canada resumed draws after the pandemic. Points are awarded for age, education, work experience, language skills, and other factors.

The previous Express Entry round of invitations took place just a week ago, on January 11. The passing score was 17 points higher. Normally Canada holds draws every two weeks, but due to a technical failure, there were no rounds from November 23 to January 11. The country now seems to have caught up with the draws to make up for the lost time.

Express Entry is the system Canada uses to select candidates for federal programs:

In 2023, the country plans to start conducting targeted Express Entry draws and select candidates with in-demand occupations, a certain education, or those who are going to settle in a certain province. Canada is primarily interested in specialists in healthcare and construction.

Express Entry is one of the main and fastest ways to move to Canada. If you need help with assessing your chances of moving, choosing an immigration program and applying, book a consultation with our specialist.

Keep an eye on Express Entry's round history to improve your chances of being invited.
