Canada opened a visa season for young people

The country intends to approve 90,000 participants in a year.

Minister of Immigration Sean Fraser announced on January 9 the opening of Canada's work visa season for young people. International Experience Canada (IEC) is a program that allows young people to work and travel in Canada for two years.

"By giving youth the opportunity to gain international travel and work experience, we are strengthening our economy and creating a win-win solution for everyone involved," Fraser commented.

Through the program, candidates between the ages of 18 and 35 can gain valuable experience living and working in another country. In turn, Canadian employers will be able to address the shortage of workers. Canada plans to issue 90,000 youth visas in 2023.

Working in Canada will help you improve your professional skills and earn money. And the opportunity to travel around the country will broaden your horizons and allow you to meet interesting people.

There are three categories in the International Experience Canada program:

  • Work Holiday participants receive an open work permit with which they can work anywhere and for any company;
  • Young Professionals receive a work permit from a specific employer to gain experience relevant to their specialty;
  • International Co-Op participants receive a permit to work for a specific employer for an internship in their field of study, but unlike the previous category, International Co-Op is only suitable for students.

Acceptance of IEC applications began December 19, but only citizens of some countries with which Canada has an agreement can participate.
