Changes in immigration
Important news of the past week. Canada transitioned to the new National Occupational Classification (NOC). Because of this, the requirements in all immigration programs have changed. This is not the only change in immigration to Canada. It became known that from 2023, draws in the Express Entry system will become targeted. Now candidates who score higher for age, education, work experience, and language proficiency are invited through Express Entry. And targeted draws will allow Canada to select applicants according to their field of education, occupation, and the province where they are going to settle. Canada is primarily interested in healthcare and construction workers.
Jobs in Canada
International students were given the right to work in Canada full-time instead of 20 hours a week, as was before. The measure will last until December 31, 2023. But this is only for those who applied for a study permit before October 7, 2022. You also need to study full-time in a program lasting more than six months and maintain good academic performance.

Canada's immigration levels plan is very ambitious. But locals are starting to worry that newcomers will drive up demand for housing and medical and social services, pushing up prices. In a recent survey, 49% of Canadians said Canada wants to take in too many immigrants. 31% consider the goals normal, and 5% think that there should be more newcomers.
Immigration draws
There were only two draws last week. On November 17, Prince Edward Island sent out 141 invitations to skilled workers and 8 invitations to entrepreneurs. This was the second draw for November, although the region usually holds a draw once a month. On November 18, a draw took place in Manitoba. The province selected 518 individuals among skilled workers in Manitoba, skilled workers overseas, and international graduates.
