Canada is halfway toward its immigration plan

It has become known how many PRs have been issued for the first half of 2022.

According to the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), there were 231,625 new permanent residents in the first half of 2022. Thanks to the optimization of IRCC operations, decisions on immigration applications this year have been issued twice as fast as last year.

On average, Canada welcomes between 36,000 and 41,000 immigrants each month. Immigration levels in the two quarters of 2022 were higher than before the pandemic. International students also continue to arrive in the country. Thus, between January 1 and July 31, 2022, 360,000 applicants received study permits.

Canada is about to break its own immigration record set in 2021. At that time, 405,000 people received permanent residency in the country. Now the goal is to welcome 431,645 permanent residents. If the current trend is maintained, Canada can meet or even exceed the target.
