Vancouver and Toronto are about to host the World Cup
In 2026, the tournament will be held in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
In the World Cup 2026 will participate 48 countries, a total of 80 matches will be played. There will be 60 matches in the U.S. and 10 matches each in Canada and Mexico. The host cities will be named on June 16, but we already know that Edmonton has dropped out of the competition.
At first Toronto and Edmonton competed for the right to host the 2026 World Cup in Canada, with the British Columbia government in doubt. But last year, the provincial premier changed his position and said it was better to attract as many tourists as possible after the pandemic. It wasn't until April 2022 that FIFA agreed to consider Vancouver.
BC Place in Vancouver is considered the best soccer stadium in the country. In addition, Vancouver is very close to American Seattle, which may also choose to host matches.
